Information on accessibility

If you have a disabled person’s pass with a green-orange imprint and a valid token (the enclosure from the pension office), you will be transported free of charge on the following lines:

• Schaprode - Hiddensee
• Stralsund - Hiddensee
• Stralsund - Altefähr
• Car ferry Wittow*
• Car ferry Warnow*

*only valid for people, cars need a corresponding ticket according to the General Tariff Regulations.

If the disabled person's pass contains the symbol "B", which entitles the holder to take along an accompanying person, the accompanying person and a dog are also carried free of charge. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are carried free of charge regardless of the "B" symbol.
Note: When boarding, please make sure that your dog enters the ship via the side of the gangway equipped with carpeting.

People with a degree of disability of 80 % as well as their required accompanying persons (prerequisite: mark B or G) are exempt from the health resort tax for the Island of Hiddensee.

There may be restrictions due to high or low water levels (depending on the weather) during boarding- especially for electric wheelchairs.

The lower passenger areas of our ships are accessible without stepps, the upper decks and sun decks can only be reached via stairs.You will find wheelchair-accessible toilets in the lower passenger areas or in the lower deck, which is accessible by a lift (max. load 225 kg).

Depending on the type of construction, it may only be possible to transport e-wheelchairs or e-mobiles on the motor ferry "Vitte" from Schaprode or Vitte (Hiddensee Island).

Please note: The MF "Vitte" is a motor ferry with a large afterdeck and a separate, very wide quay, which is more suitable for e-wheelchairs or e-mobiles. However, we would like to point out that the MF "Vitte" does not have a passenger area suitable for wheelchair users. This means that you will have to stay on the covered afterdeck during the crossing.

For safety reasons, an accompanying adult is requested.
